Of all the materials we work with, there are few more satisfying to process than traffolyte plastic. The layered construction of traffolyte sheets is perfect for providing a two-tone coloured finish to any laser engraving project. Traffolyte is also highly durable and hard-wearing, making it an ideal choice for business signage installed externally.
And that’s precisely what today’s project review is all about. Our most recent laser engraving project saw our laser engraving technicians here at Vector & Raster working with high-contrast black and white traffolyte sheets to ultimately produce business signage that’s totally in alignment with our client’s existing branding.
But before we jump into detailing our traffolyte signage project in full, let’s first outline the key benefits and applications of traffolyte, and why our laser engravers recommend traffolyte for laser engraved signage.
The benefits of using laser engraved traffolyte for signage
The major selling point of traffolyte plastic is that it’s a naturally hard-wearing surface that’s also corrosion resistant. When exposed to harsh acidic or alkaline solutions, traffolyte can actually hold its own fairly well. This makes traffolyte plastic an ideal material for laser engraved signage in a wide range of contexts, spanning from general business signage to high-contrast safety signage in industrial environments like warehouses or laboratories.
The high-contrast finish of traffolyte signage also makes them easily legible from greater distances than signs made from other commonly used laser engraving materials. When compared to sleek and shiny metal materials, traffolyte provides almost as much of a hard-wearing finish as stainless steel whilst also eliminating low legibility concerns in bright or contrastingly low-light conditions. This high legibility also makes traffolyte signage ideal for displaying permanent QR codes or sharing other business, venue, or promotional information.
The semi-rigid construction of traffolyte plastic also makes this material incredibly satisfying to engrave using laser engraving machinery. The process of laser engraving traffolyte is straightforward and guaranteed to deliver high-quality (and high-contrast) end results. All of this adds up to traffolyte being a hassle-free, long-lasting and ultimately a highly cost-effective material for laser engraved signage.
Our latest laser engraving traffolyte signage project
So now that you know why traffolyte signage is such a high-return investment for business owners, let’s look at our most recent laser engraved traffolyte project. Believe it or not, but this project came from a returning client who’d actually secured traffolyte signage from our laser engravers in the past. Their previous order wasn’t too dissimilar to this new project brief, which largely involved manufacturing high-contrast traffolyte signage that the client was looking to install outside their business and to enhance their visibility and street appeal.
As the client already knew they were after traffolyte to match their existing signage, selecting the material for this project took little to no time. We approved the 1.6mm thick, self-adhesive acrylic laminate plastic with a high-contrast two-tone black and white construction with our clients. From there, we finalised the designs and then got straight to the laser engraving process.
As you can see from our stunning end product, the traffolyte signage was engraved with crisp detail, from the ornate flourishes to all the eye-catching fonts used on the completed signs. The balance between white and black elements was also closely managed by our laser engraving specialists to ensure the finished traffolyte signage would be a harmonious blend of the material’s two distinct colours.
Once our team was happy with the traffolyte signs, we cleaned them, boxed them up, and then sent them directly to our client and their new home, where their adhesive backing was promptly peeled and the signs were installed. Our clients were thrilled with the finished product and no doubt, these traffolyte signs will look immaculate in their new home for decades to come.
Where else can you expect to find traffolyte signage?
As we mentioned, traffolyte signage isn’t just popular for their high-contrast finish, but also for their corrosion resistance. This makes traffolyte signage suitable for installation across a wide range of different commercial and industrial settings.
Here are just some of the places you can expect to find traffolyte signage:
- Electrical control panels
- Warning and hazard identification signage
- Mimic panels
- Wayfinding and informational signage
- Asset labels and signage
Alongside being used as an ideal material for laser sign engraving, the natural corrosion resistance of traffolyte plastic also makes them suitable for creating tags and labels that need to be extra durable. You can actually typically find traffolyte plastic being used to produce electrical safety tags for test and tag purposes, and even laser engraved name badges and other smaller scale tags that can benefit from being lightweight and corrosion resistant due to their being handled on a regular basis and thus being exposed to natural oils and other corrosive elements.
These key benefits of using traffolyte for labels and tags are also what makes this unique plastic material a great fit for interior and exterior business signage, be it promotional plaques or hazard identification signage.
