  • The Birth of V&R Laser Services

Vector & Raster Laser Services commenced trading in Lalor, Victoria and Purchased its first Austrian Trotec Laser cutting and engraving machine through a 3rd party distributer in NSW (before the days of Trotec Australia).

At this point mainly servicing the fashion and textile trade, after another laser cutting business closed its doors. Shortly after, we found ourselves servicing many other fields with a range of different products, such as electrical labels and decorative plaques, engraving of promotional items and corporate gifts, laser cutting paper for invitations and other craft projects, as well as many wooden and acrylic components. From day one, our main focus was always on quality.

  • Expansion Into New Premises

We moved premises to Fawkner, Victoria to better facilitate our growing business. This was due to the fact that we required much more space due to the amount and type of work coming in. We found ourselves receiving large regular repeat orders and required room to store the pallets, boxes and rolls that were coming in regularly. We also required much more space to prepare jobs before they went onto the machine an also neatly pack the jobs with the care required, once completed.

  • Growth To Satisfy Supply & Demand

No doubt a time that not many will forget, with the GFC (Global Financial Crisis). As many were curbing spending and being extremely cautious with what lay ahead, we found ourselves struggling to keep up with our ever growing workload. Apart from receiving ongoing cutting contracts, we found that many clients were wanting to cut larger items and thicker materials too. This is when we decided to purchase another two large format laser cutting machines and build a secondary workshop to facilitate not only the new machines on their arrival, but also the extra workbenches required. The machines couldn’t arrive fast enough.

  • The Future Is Bright, The Future Is Green

VR-Laser decided to take the leap and go green. We committed to purchasing 100% green power to not only run our machinery but our entire business; including computers, lighting etc. We also commenced using high efficiency filtration units to filter all fumes created by the cutting and engraving process. This ensured that only clean air would exit our premises and enter the atmosphere.

  • Refining Workflow For Efficiency

It was time to once again move premises. We had once again outgrown our facility and found it difficult to streamline our workflow with the current setup. We made the decision to move to Wallan, with easy access off the Hume freeway, where we could house all our machinery under the one roof, enabling us to easily manage all orders coming through our doors in an efficient manner. It also allowed us easier access for loading and unloading large orders.

  • A Clear-Cut Decision

At this point in time we found ourselves cutting much thicker materials on a regular basis and so decided to purchase another machine to aid in processing these orders fast and cleanly. We decided to purchase another large format, high powered Trotec laser which enabled us to cut thick acrylic and wood without any issues, whilst providing a clean cut edge. This machine also allowed us to engrave much deeper on materials such as wood and mark metal products much faster.

  • Living In A Material World

We find ourselves stocking an even larger range of materials in order to provide fast turnaround times and more flexibility. These include an even greater range of wood sheets and acrylic sheets for signs, ornaments, decorative panels etc. Higher volumes of plastic sheets such as Mylar, in a range of thicknesses for stencils and templates. A wide range of laminate plastics such as Traffolyte for electrical labels, badges and signs. Rubber and foam sheets for gaskets, seals and spacers. Cardboard and paper for invitations, decorations, displays and much more.

  • The New Face Of V&R Laser Services

We decided it was time to completely revamp our website, allowing our clients easy access to more information and a closer look at our services, allowing a much better user experience which will allow more informative decisions to be made. It will also help showcase the type of and standard of quality we provide.
